Learning how to make a waterbomb base can help in creating other origami figures, like animals and flowers. The waterbomb base is also referred to as the balloon base. Like many other origami figures, the base begins with a square sheet of paper.
Turn the paper so the colored side is down. Fold in half diagonally from one corner to the opposite corner. Unfold the paper and fold the other two corners, unfolding them after creasing.
Flip the paper over so the colored side is up. Fold the paper in half horizontally and then unfold. Fold the paper in half vertically and unfold.
The picture at the left shows what the folds will look like on the plain side of the paper after making the initial folds.
Take the square at the bottom of the horizontal folds, bringing them to meet in the center.
With two of the sides flattened, take the other two sides and bring them together at the bottom, as shown in the picture at the left.
The final waterbomb base will have a triangular shape from the top.
Once you learn how to make a waterbomb base, you can try to make other origami bases, like the preliminary base and frog base. If you have trouble with any of the bases, review basic origami folding instructions and attempt the base again.
